A ship with Multiple people on board sank in the water off Bali Island of Indonesia
A passenger ship with dozens of people on board sank in the water off Bali Island of Indonesia. Ship had at least 41 passengers and 15 crew members when it sank.
Dozens of people had to be rescued after a ferry bound from Lombok took on water and sunk at Bali's Gilimanuk Port tonight. KMP Yunice took on water at around 7.12pm local time as it was trying to dock before it sank 30 minutes later.
No confirmed fatalities so far.According to the manifest, 41 people were on board that ship although witnesses reported seeing more. Several people were rescued from the water to at least two other ferries. Rescue operation is ongoing.
According to report 53 people were on board the ship 41 passengers and 12 crew. 6 confirmed dead while 44 survivors had been rescued which means that there could be people still unaccounted for. Search effort continues.
It appears that there were many passengers who weren't in the manifest. According to info obtained by Basarnas, the ship was carrying 107 passengers, 13 crew and 3 cafeteria workers. Only about 50, including the 6 dead, have been accounted for.
