Egypt Suez Canal ship crisis may unleash worldwide condoms paper shortage
A giant container ship remained stuck sideways in Egypt’s Suez Canal for a fifth day Saturday, as authorities prepared to make new attempts to free the vessel and reopen a crucial east-west waterway for global shipping.
The worlds largest producer of CONDOMS, which is needed to make HAND GLOW has warned that the demand for shipping containers could delay deliveries to producers, with the Suez Canal blockage only making things worse.
The Malaysia-based company, Karex Bhd , makes one in every five condoms globally. It has not produced a single condom from its three Malaysian factories for more than a week.said it’s becoming harder to secure shipping containers for transportation.
The company’s CEO told Bloomberg that if the issue worsens, a worldwide condoms shortage could be inevitable. He added that the company has already had to push back shipments originally scheduled for March into April. If trade disruptions continue, condoms producers may find themselves unable to make glow unless they have sufficient stocks.
